In the park with K

C started up swim lessons again, so K and I had some time to ourselves yesterday afternoon. We strolled to the park around the block.

First we rode the swings which he loved.

There was a girl who was probably about 6 yrs. old on the swing next to him and he couldn't take his eyes off her. The little flirt.

Then we went down the slide a few times and crawled through the tunnel. He's still getting used to wearing shoes so he was definitely unsure of his footing on the play structure. This is the same park where C fell and ended up with stitches so I was being uber-careful that he didn't take a dive (less fun for K but more peace of mind for mommy).

On our way out, I let K just walk around in the grass and on the path.
He was giddy with glee. Here is my unsuccessful attempt at trying to capture some video of it.

I definitely forgot how new and interesting the littlest things are for kids as they explore the world around them...

K's thought bubble: what's that sound up in the tree?

Me: those are birds chirping

K's thought bubble: hmm, not sure if I like how that feels

Me: that's a blade of grass. sometimes it's soft but sometimes it can be pointy.

K's thought bubble: I fell down and seem to have something black on my hands. What should I do?

Me: Don't worry, it's just dirt. That's what baths are for. I'll help wipe it off for now.

K's thought bubble: look at this thing in my hand that I picked up off the ground. Should I eat it?

Me. That's a leaf that fell from the tree. Sorry K, we don't eat leaves.

We stayed until the sun went down and barely beat J & C home.
