On Saturday, C and I started a mommy & me Soccer class. Friends had taken a similar one and liked it so we thought we'd give it a try. It was a lovely morning so I was happy to get us out of the house and playing at a park.
The first 'drill' was to run to different colored poles spread out around the field. C preferred to find the colored flags that were not being descended upon by everyone else. I can't say I blame her.

It was a little congested with 20 toddlers and their parents running this way and that. But it got downright chaotic when soccer balls were added into the mix.

C liked throwing the ball just as much as kicking it so I'd say the class was only a partial success.

Here she is trying an advanced skill, balancing one foot on top of the ball.

Towards the end of the class C was more interested in laying on the ball than kicking it.

However, she woke up the next day asking to play soccer with mommy so at least she liked it enough to want to do it again.
Which one are you taking? We did Belmont's last time and now are doing the San Mateo one from 8:30 - 9 am. I figured early morning would be better than mid-day and with rainy season we'll know if it's canceled right away vs. hovering around all morning waiting.
ReplyDeleteG's first class this time was so-so..he wasn't in the mood and just didn't want to play. Hopefully next week will be better.
we are doing a kidz love soccer in PA at 9am. i agree with you - better to get out early. We'll see how it goes. I question whether or not just bringing a soccer ball to the park and kicking it around wouldn't be just as good. Maybe we can get our own little soccer club together - g, c, reese, nora...
ReplyDeleteThe first time Caleb took his soccer class I thought it was a big mistake. But it got better. We did skip this session because I didn't want it to always get canceled because of rain.
