Grandma & Grandpa Martian

J's parents came out to CA to visit us over the holidays and stayed through New Year's. The kids had a wonderful time playing with Grandma & Grandpa and were loved and spoiled all day long.
For a point of comparison, here is last year's picture:
C can't quite pronounce Grandpa Marvin's name...so he's Grandpa Martian. After trying to correct her a few times, J's dad just gave in to the name. It really is pretty adorable when C says it and you can't not chuckle.

Here is K making Grandma laugh and vice versa:

In addition to hanging around the house playing, we had some fun adventures including a visit to Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, a drive up to Marin for a cheese tasting with a stop along the coast for oysters, a trip to the movies to see "The Kings Speech" and wine-tasting at Thomas Fogarty vineyards. Unfortunately we didn't all fit in one car so J & I took turns staying home with one or both kids which in the end actually worked out great. Most nights after the kids went to bed we played cards for a few hours which was a ton of fun and not something we get to do very often.

On Dec 31, we watched the ball drop in Times Square live on TV and had the perfect ringing in of the New Year...with family and on east coast time!

The last night before J's folks left we had a family photo shoot where everyone (except K) was shouting "Happy New Year" at the top of their lungs. Not surprisingly, C was the loudest! It was a hoot.

Sadly, J's parents hopped on a plane back to Florida today. We had a wonderful visit and are so thankful that they came out to see us. We miss them already. Time to make a Skype date!
