Cycling

One of the first Olympic events was the Men's Cycling Road Race. The race started at The Mall, wove it's way through the southwest of London (close to where we live!) out to Surrey and then back again. We headed out early in the morning to claim a spot along the route in Richmond Park. C with her cheering gear:
The view was great but the riders were there and gone within seconds.
Team GB was on the other side of the peloton, but if you look straight through to the back of the riders, you can see Bradley Wiggins, winner of the Tour de France.
The loop took the riders back through the park on the return but we decided not to wait the 4 hrs. Instead we explored the park a bit, found a lovely cafe and then went home to watch the finish on TV.
A disappointing ending for the British team and Mark Cavendish. But while watching the event highlights on TV, we did manage to catch a glimpse of ourselves amongst the crowd.
