Less than one week to go...

London is gearing up for the Olympics. And so are we. Olympic flags are flying down Oxford St.
Country flags are flying down Regent St.
The Olympic Venues have all been updated on the Tube maps.
J secured two limited edition oyster cards.
We're outfitted.
The kids have Olympic torches (thanks MM).
And our event tickets arrived in the post - diving, beach volleyball, handball and badminton!
Can't wait.

That said, work has advised that we should plan on commutes being impacted by as much as an hour (considering my commute is currently 45 min., an additional hour would really suck). My work stop, Oxford Circus, has been flagged as one of the more congested stops during the games (a "hotspot" is what it's being referred to).
Olympic Park opened to participants last week and I'm definitely seeing the streets and trains busier than ever before.

  1. I remember many many many years ago (1988 to be exact. yikes that's a long time ago) during the Seoul Games, the government did everything to keep traffic manageable....only cars with license plates ending in even numbers were able to be out on even number dates, and only cars with license plates ending in odd numbers were allowed out during odd number dates. Crazy when you think about it, but I vaguely remember traffic being thinner during the Olympics.

  3. N - that's wild! I took the bus this morning and I think they've managed to scare everyone off the roads because traffic didn't seem to awful. Since it's hot so I'm trying to avoid the tube at all costs.

    A - I know, I know...
