Aloha (Maui Day 1 - con't)

It didn't take long for the plane trip to be a distant memory and we were on to enjoying the beaufiful Maui weather and countryside. That is after we packed up the rented Minivan and made a pitstop at Walmart to stock up on pampers, cheese sticks, water and diet coke.

One of the things that I've always loved about Hawaii is being greeted with lei's. It's such a nice gesture and immediately puts you in the island mood.

C liked it too...especially the gauva juice that accompanied it.
When we checked in we were informed that we were 'upgraded' to a room poolside. Um, yeah, that's not going to work for us. I'm not sure which would have been worse....not being able to get the kids to sleep given the potential noise of a pool open 24hrs. or having C whine repeatedly about wanting to go to the pool each and every minute of the day.

After a little complaining we were moved to a suite on the 4th floor with views of the ocean from outside. Aaah, peaceful and beautiful. The suite was actually quite spacious and I loved the large balcony that is shared by the living room & bedroom.

Here is K checking out his new digs.

Once we got settled we headed out to the pool which C has been asking for since we left SF. The hotel has a special kids/baby pool area which was really nice. There was also a water slide for 'big kids' which J had a blast riding down.
Everyone's schedule was totally off so we ended up just ordering room service and then getting the kids settled down to sleep. Since C is finally in a BGB we were able to sleep her in the pull-out couch and put K in a crib, both in the living room. A few minutes after J and I closed the door to the bedroom, K was still whining/crying a bit and then we heard C go, "Kevin, be quiet. I'm trying to sleep". Well wouldn't you know he quieted right up and went to sleep. Maybe we should reconsider having them share rooms at home?
