Maui Day 6

Today we had a special treat. After a morning swim, we met up with J’s cousin Jodi and her husband Marc who live in Maui.

They were so sweet and gave us all presents from the island – J & I both received Kukui nut lei’s and C & K received “I love Hawaii“ bears.

C was besides herself! The bear (who we named "maui") hasn’t left her side since. She also received a pair of flower hair ties which look absolutely adorable on her.

Jodi was kind enough to take a family photo for us - one of only two from our trip. Unfortunately K was snoozing.

After lunch we couldn't walk past Lappert's without stopping for some ice cream.

As a funny aside, Marc was carrying the gifts in a brown paper bag. C kept asking to eat a bagel and we couldn’t figure out where the request was coming from. Finally we figured out that she thought there were bagels in the bag.

In the evening we drove ‘upcountry’ for a wonderful dinner at haillemale general store. The restaurant had an open kitchen and a casual, farmhouse feel. It definitely felt like the type of place you could plop down somewhere in Napa. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted ahi and j had the fish of the day, opakapaka. Both were mouth-wateringly wonderful. Unfortunately both kids were in a bit of a mood at dinner so we weren’t able to enjoy a long, lingering meal that the place deserved. Maybe next time since it’s definitely a place to go back to.
