The morning actually started out pretty good. We were on the road just a couple of minutes later than we had planned which is nothing short of a miracle. Once at the airport, our bags were checked on the sidewalk and not weighed (as we breathed a sigh of relief). Then we were whisked through security in the "family line", basically cutting everyone else. Should we have expected that things were proceeding too smoothly?
J had checked seat guru multiple times and agonized over which seats to pick. In the end, we chose ones all the way in the back of the plane, 2 aisles and a window. Even though we knew it would be noisy and that there would be a lot of foot traffic, we figured being close to the bathroom might actually work in our favor and that maybe we'd get lucky and have some extra seats free in the middle. Well we scored on both fronts - thankfully.
K has been has been going through a serious teething phase and walks around with his fingers, well practically his whole fist, in his mouth. To top that off, he picked up a cold the day before we left so let's just say he wasn't the happiest of campers on the flight.
C on the other hand was doing great. I had bought her a new puzzle for the ride and it was keeping her totally occupied. However, about an hour into the flight out of the blue she declares, "I don't want to go to Hawaii" and proceeded to throw up right in her lap. Then again, and again. Cleanup consisted of sacrificing the puzzle and a United blanket which both went straight into the garbage. We got C out of her clothes and into fresh ones. Luckily there were extra seats next to j so we were able to leave the bio-hazard zone alone for the rest of the trip. Aside from supplying a can of seltzer, the flight attendants were pretty much useless.
Thankfully the rest of the trip was much less eventful and we even got k to sleep for a bit. But boy were we glad to be off that plane.
Yikes. Glad it was just a passing thing and not a horrible stomach bug or something of that sort. Can't wait to hear about what happened when you got off the plane!
ReplyDeleteoh gawd! I literally cringed and chuckled. I think it's a good thing you had extra space and were in the back.
